Something I am
At the very beginning as I received this assignment, I literally panicked. I have never experienced so much 'freedom' in any assignments I have done before. This assignment allows our ideas to run wild and free, and I was shocked to know that it has no limitation. Therefore, I was lost and confused for the first few weeks since this assignment was given. After several samples given by Mr Paul and my friends' detailed explanations, I finally understood the tasks for this assignment. In the end, I truly learnt so much and widen up my eyes as well as mind to project and express my ideas through this assignment.
Here's the showcase of my work :)
What am I supposed to do ?
Our requirements for the project :
- Presenting our design process
- Empathy, Define, Ideation , Prototype and Presentation
- Each phase requires at least 3 pages except for presentation (only 1 page)
- INFOGRAPHIC form
- Dateline : Week 5 ( Friday 23/5 )
Progress
Empathy
At first, I had no idea what this assignment was for. I could not understand this whole assignment even though My family and friends explained to me numerous times.

It took quite some time to complete 3 pages of empathy ((estimately 2 weeks to complete the mindmaps))

Define
After a while, I finally understood the tasks for this assignment. I had sudden inspirations of what I wished to illustrate and present as my final work.

I knew where I was heading to, therefore I did my define within 2 hours. It felt really good ! Having the idea and knowing the direction makes this assignment so much easier!

Ideation
Initially, I had tons of ideas of how I wished to present my work. There were so many pictures flashing in my brain.
However, as I was holding my pencil , ready to draw exactly what I have imagined in my mind on the paper, my brain went blank. What I drew was not what I expected. I got a little disappointed at first, but eventually I just go with the flow- whatever comes in, I just drew it. Eventually, things got together, and I got to present 4 ideas for my ideation.

Prototype
I finally decided which idea I preferred the best for representing my idea. I really want to express my initial thoughts and express the thoughts in a positive way. So, I chose the one with me flying with Santa towards my puzzle of hope.

I plan as I colour. How to make it look bright and positive? Bright colours represent happiness? What makes it look magical? These questions popped out in my brain as I was colouring. Therefore, it helped me a lot in this prototype. The process was like a trial and error.
Presentation
My final presentation was done once I am done with my prototype. I am someone who loves to be unique, I dislike being the same as others. Though my artwork seem pretty normal, like a typical 'escaping reality' artwork, but the meaning behind it is unique.
I included my personal thoughts and beliefs in my final work. I am quite a simple and childish person, and I like to display the innocence and simplicity through my work.
Reflection
Through this assignment, I have learnt to think critically and creatively. Before this, I never understood what this module was for.
Eventually, along the way, I learnt to ask myself questions for each process. How to make things better? These self-asked questions makes me push myself further to explore the creativity inside me.
Intrapersonal skills is all about how you manage yourself and being self-reliant. From this assignment, I learnt to manage my time and always do planning before starting my work. With very close due dates, I learnt to force myself to do plannings for my assignments so I can hand in all in time.
Communication skills not necessarily apply on group works, it also applies in individual work too. In this assignment, I learn to communicate and discuss my work with the lecturer for amendments and improvements. Though I was not very used to it, I think it is a great start.
