What am I supposed to do ?
Our requirements for the project :
- 5 Analysis Diagrams (Parti, Context, Circulation, Space Planning, Structure, Ventilation)
- Orthographic drawings (1:50) (Site plan, Floor plans, Sections, Elevations and Perspective)
- 8x8x8 cm of each diagram
- Dateline : Thursday 8/9
Progress
Researches & Delegation of Tasks
As a group, we have selected the Wooden Treehouse C by Stilt Studios. We are required to do in depth research and to analyze the design and its surroundings. As a leader of my team, I have then listed out a schedule and delegated tasks as soon as possible due to the time limitation before submission (due in 1 week time).
Sketches & Mock Ups
After research, we then sketched out our diagrams and get approvals from our tutor, Ms Patma. We have tried using different approaches to interpret and present our design analysis in the most unique, yet understandable way.
Orthographic Drawings
In order to ensure that our drawings are accurate, we usually seek for advices from our tutor to make sure that we are on the right track. Other than that, we also search online on well-known building drawings for more accurate drawing conventions.
Building Models
Later on, we then started on building models for our design analysis. The videos shown here are myself building a analysis model about the structure and its stability.
Reflection
From this assignment, I have learnt to analyze the design of the structure while being able to transfer my understandings into diagrams and models. Not only that, we had the opportunity to learn about the materiality, stability of the structure used in our chosen structure, through researches about our respective structure as well as other well-known structures. This can be very helpful to me, especially in the future as I am going through the journey of architecture.
As this was the first project of the semester with only a week of time span to complete it, it was certainly stressful to us. As a team leader, I have initially felt pressured to lead with such time constraint. I have learnt to not only create a schedule where members do not feel restricted, yet also being able to complete our work on time, I also have learnt to listen to others' opinions, help each other in this assignment. It was quite an intense yet interesting first week of Semester 2.
In order to create a comfortable and productive environment with our team mates, we have decided to go through each stage together. For instance, planning, scheduling, sketching, modelling and arrangement of boards to ensure that all members are clear on the progress and direction the team is going towards to.
