Micro House Project
Designing your own home - just like playing the game "Sims", I was really excited for this project as I LOVE designing houses. This assignment is a mixture of individual and group project, we have to work in a team of 6 to finalize on our main materials and furniture to include in our micro house, then we proceed to draw out our technical drawings individually to our own preferences.
Here's the showcase of my work :)

Progress
We worked in a team of 6 : Nathaniel, Brandon, Zi Fung, Joshua and She-Qi. As I was super pumped for this assignment, I suggested the first meeting where we discuss about out location, layout, electing leader as well as delegating task. The first meeting was smooth and short, ended up with me being the leader.
Then, given a week of duration, we had a meeting where we finalized on our materials, furniture and scales to be used. This meeting was a bit lengthy as most of us have loads of furniture in our 'shopping list', we had to eliminate one by one according to majority preferences. Some were very cooperative during the session and it made the meeting go on smoothly.
Here is the video which helps me to identify which style that I prefer, which helps me to choose my furniture wisely. In the end , I can conclude that my favourite styles are Mid century modern, Scandinavian and Industrial.
In the end we concluded as a team for industrial style houses, therefore, our houses mainly has large windows, bare wire lightings, mesh and wooden furniture.
After finalizing everything as a team, we then proceeded to do our individual tasks ( site plan, floor plan, elevation 1 & 2 and section view.
These are my sketches of how I envision my interior and exterior of my micro house. I am quite satisfied with the final results and the final drawings were well executed as how I expected.
Reflection
I have learnt how to arrange the space wisely in a limited space. Not only that, I also got to explore the section view of the roof and the foundation, site plan (roof shape and angle). Initially, I kept on changing my interior designs and space arrangement as I always come out with a 'better' idea, but eventually when there is a limited time when we need to complete our task, I have learnt to stop. I once heard an interview with some Malaysian architects that we will never be satisfied with our own design, there is always a better design, therefore we should learn when to STOP especially when there is a limited amount of time.
For this assignment, we have to work in teams. Obviously, it involves our communication skills. At first in meetings, some may not contribute or talk much in the discussion, however, work was still contributed evenly and all our teammates produced decent group work within the due date given. I learn to associate with different types of people and I can say I am very grateful to have them as my team mates.
I learnt to control my urge of changing my designs over and over again, which also helps with my time management to complete our project few days prior the due date. Through the exploration of different materials and the roof structure, I learn to analyze and pick the best materials and furniture designs to represent or execute my thoughts into my drawings.
