Tropical Wildlife Discovery Unit
This is an individual project where we have to design a wildlife discovery unit located in Bukit Jalil Recreational park. After conducting several site visits and analysis in groups, own researches and precedent studies on materiality and foundations, we then start designing a discovery unit based on information research and also responding to site.

Progress
Precedent Studies
Before starting my designing process, I usually like to research and search for inspirations online. For instance, precedent studies to discover more about their design strategies, materiality and methods of constructions etc. Not only that, I have also researched on buildings that are located on similar site context as my chosen site (slope).
Sketches and Designs
After researches, I will then explore and produce different designs and approaches. This brainstorming session is mainly used to let ideas to run freely. Later on, in the designing stage, I would combined each idea's strengths and amendments to their weaknesses into the final design.
Orthographic Drafts
After finalizing on the main idea of the discovery unit, I then started constructing the drawings. Later on, if there are any amendments, it will all be reflected in the drawings first before I start to construct the final model. This is to avoid/minimize any miscommunication in drawings and models later on.
Models
After finalizing all drawings and compiling them onto A1 presentation boards, I then decided to construct a detachable model, where each floor can be seen as well as detaching model from the site itself for better angles.
Reflection
After 2 group projects previously, this is now our final project, which is also an individual assignment. I have learnt to manage my time while trying to balance out my work life as well. Not only that, the process of this assignment had actually made me improved a lot as I have gained loads of knowledge through researches about materiality and stability through online platforms as well as consulting with tutors.
In this assignment, we are given site to design our discovery unit. With my chosen site, the slope, I have to consider many factors that might affect my design such as soil quality, angle, earthing effectiveness, stability, constant water contact with slopes etc. All these issues have made me come up with solutions to further improve my structure and add detailings that turns these disadvantages into a beauty and highlight spot of my structure. For instance, butterfly roofing waterfall through grooveline concretes wall.
