Progress
Planning & Research
I had to sketch out and plan the storyline of my imaginary movie. Later on, I had to also explore the methods of using different colour mediums, fonts and colours to create different ambience for my movie.
Genre & Storyline
I had decided that my movie genre is thriller and action. My inspiration movies were Jumanji and Indiana Jones as I personally enjoyed the storyline and the intensity.

My movie " Island of the Genesis" is a story about an islander exploring an isolated island, not knowing that the island exist in a different dimension. The island consist of all extinct animals, mysterious missing airplanes (MY370), ancient organisms: Egyptian mummy, Pharaoh etc.
Here is the video which helps me to identify and choose the most suitable placement, colours and font for my movie poster ( BLUE for thriller )
Draft
Using the knowledge of how the colours and fonts can impact the ambience I want to create for the poster, I have decided to first draft out the placement of my poster and pick which looks more eye-catching and aesthetic.
These are the drafts of my initial ideas and arrangements for my movie poster.
Reflection
From this assignment, I have gained the knowledge of the importance of colours and font and how it impacts the final outcome. This could be really useful especially in the future as we design and build structures in our architecture course. Besides designing a structure, this could also come in handy as we advertise or market, or when there is a need to create something eye catching.
Although this was an individual work, this still requires some communication skills. For instance, I have to communicate with my tutor to gain feedback and seek for improvements along the way. Not only that, I seek for my peers' and family's comments and opinions.
There are lots of self directed learning in the process of producing my final design for my movie poster. I have learnt to go online, search for inspirations and tutorial video to create the best possible outcome for my poster - turns out self directed learning is way more effective than being spoon-fed by seniors or lecturers as I tend to seek for more information and ways to improve my work.
