What am I supposed to do ?
Our requirements for the project :
- 1 2m x 2m x 2m bamboo shading structure
- Orthographic drawings
- Mock up models
- Presentation Boards
- Dateline: Tuesday 24/5
Progress
Discussions
As a team, we first had a few discussions to choose 1 design element and principle to work towards to in our final model. We then all unanimously agreed on using lines and rhythm as our main elements and principle.

Sketches
Later on, we were split into 3 small groups to further develop our design using the element and principle chosen into sketches, then a mock up model.
Mock Ups
As all 3 teams gather for discussions, we select the model that we think we can further develop more on. to proceed as a final model and structure.
Bamboo Construction
Once final model is done, we proceeded to out actual bamboo construction. We spent day and nights everyday in order to complete our project in time.
Reflection
Certainly, as we build our actual bamboo structure, we have loads of areas that we need to consider about, especially for user's safety. There were many areas that were missed out as we were planning, sketching and constructing out mock up models. For instance, the stability and the ergonomics. We had to find solutions online and do researches to ensure that our structure will not collapse and is comfortable to rest at.
For this assignment, we have to work in a huge group - a group of 20 members. We have to learn to listen and communicate with others through the designing and constructing process with no judgements. We learn to value each others' opinions and help each other to grow.
As a group, we have to learn to put our differences aside and work together as a team. A group of many members could easily cause conflicts and misunderstandings due to the differences in mindset or even culture. We have to compromise and accommodate to each needs and wants of every member as much as possible, to produce the best possible outcome as a team.
