Creating a Toy
At first, this assignment might be shocking to me. Creating a toy is something that never occurred to me. Overall, this assignment is really fun and interesting. I have learnt so much about critical thinking and what to consider when I am creating a toy.
Here's the showcase of my work :)
What am I supposed to do ?

Our requirements :
- Empathy, Define, Ideation, Prototype and Presentation
- Create a toy based on your assigned body part
- Create a video of how you play the toy
- Make a poster for your toy
- Due date : Week 14 ( 23/7 )
Progress
Planning
When I got the assigned body part : head, chicken head movement first appeared in my mind. Then. I try to link the head movements to my daily life or things I can see in my daily life. ( Yoga poses, warmups ... )
From there, I developed the idea of 'chicken strut' I kept on improving the idea for my chicken game as I have many new weird ideas along the way.
Process
The process for Empathy was pretty simple for me, all I had to do was to follow the brief and relate the head movements to the things I can see in my daily life. However, for Define, I got a little stuck as I did not really have ideas for games related to head. All I could think of was my initial chicken game. Later on, I did some research to find out more games that I can do with my head.

For Ideation, I had set my game rules, game process, reasons why I relate to chickens etc. Then, I realised that my Ideation was very different from my friends, so I checked with Mr Paul. Luckily, I was on the right track.
Making the toy
The process of making the toy was not as smooth as I anticipated. I faced several issues like : magnet being too strong, chicken beak falling off, chicken head size etc. All these problems never came across my mind before.

So, I had some help from my parents with this project as well as I am very bad in crafts. They guided me so I would not hurt myself from the sharp objects. The process was really fun. Overall, I am very satisfied with the outcome of my chicken head.
Behind the scenes
I dragged my parents to be in this video. After explaining and briefing them of what I plan to do in the video, my parents were excited and supported my idea. They even added some new ideas to the video too !

I treated this video shooting process as a family bonding time, we laughed and we had a really great time. We helped each other out, like setting up our new green screen, videography angles, video editing sequence etc. I am very grateful for what they have done for me and I could not have completed this without them !
Infographic Poster
Designer a poster is easier said than done. I have plenty of ideas for my poster designs, but when I start to design my posters, everything goes haywire. I did not know what kind of software to design with. Canva? There are too many limitations; Adobe Illustrator? I spent too long to figure out how to use it; Digital drawing? I have never tried before, but I know it will consume a lot of time. In the end, I decided to stick with Powerpoint!

When I actually start putting all my pieces and info in the slide, the outcome was not what I anticipated. I had many many different posters but .... they were all terrible! So, I decided to show Mr Paul what I have got. Grateful for his patience, as he provided many suggestions until I got it right.
Reflection
For this toy, I have been making many amendments and adjustments to my toy during the process. Many problems were not how I expected it to be. Through this, I learn to overcome the issue with new strategies. For instance, magnets on paper can be replaced with stapler bullets for better attraction.
Though I have done some video editing before, I have never tried a video editing with the green screen. I learnt so many editing techniques to make it look interesting and keep it within the time limit ( 1 minute ) For example, my video style is a cartoon style. So, speeding up to 2.00 makes the video look cute and fast.
Usually this communication skills is about working with team mates, however in this case, it's about communicating with the lecturer. In this assignment specifically, I have asked so many questions as this is the final assignment. By asking so many questions, I have gained a lot of knowledge of thinking critically as well as designer posters. For instance, designing a poster by using the elements to guide viewers attention towards the attraction of the toy. I find this really helpful especially in the future if I were to take on architecture course.
